The premises of the former Bundeswehr bunker in Traben-Trarbas, which was named the Cyberbunker, is up for sale. This is reported by Deutsche Welle with reference to the State Tax Office in Koblenz.
This underground military bunker, located near the town of Traben-Trarbach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, is famous for serving as a place for illegal websites . After the discovery of criminal activity in 2019, the bunker was confiscated and is currently under the management of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, which put it up for sale.
History of the bunker
In the past, land the building was owned by the Geoinformation Office of the German Bundeswehr. The object offered for sale was used for consultations with the military on various issues. But in 2012, this office was closed, and later it was purchased by a private individual who turned out to be a member of a cybercriminal gang.
A criminal group calling itself Cyberbunker used the bunker to manage hundreds of servers and commit almost 250,000 crimes , including drug deals, identity theft and selling, financial fraud and cyber attacks. The criminal activity was stopped in the fall of 2019, and then the bunker was confiscated and handed over to the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
The sale price of the object is not disclosed.
