The share of energy obtained from renewable sources in Germany reached a record level in the first quarter of 2024 — 58.4% of all electricity produced in the country during the specified period. This is the highest figure for the entire time of statistical research.
Germany received 121.5 billion kilowatt-hours from renewable energy sources, which is 11.6% more than the previous year. Meanwhile, energy production from fossil fuel sources fell by 25.4%, accounting for only 41.6% of the country's total electricity production.
Wind energy made a notable contribution, producing an additional five billion kilowatt-hours &mdash ; 12% more than last year. It now accounts for 38.5% of Germany's electricity.
Solar power also showed significant growth of 1.4 billion kilowatt-hours, or 21%, and now provides 6.6% of Germany's electricity.
