General Dynamics UK introduced the versatile multi-purpose Foxhound GMRV armored personnel carrier

At the Defense Vehicle Dynamics (DVD) show held in Millbrook, UK this September, General Dynamics UK made headlines with the launch of a new variant of its Foxhound General Multi-Role Vehicle (GMRV) light protected patrol vehicle. With advanced design and modular adaptability, the GMRV promises unparalleled versatility on and off the battlefield.

The Foxhound GMRV is designed to operate in the most challenging environments, demonstrating a combination of protection, mobility and flexibility. Its modular design offers a significant advantage, allowing the vehicle to adapt to different mission requirements. The platform can be configured for multiple roles with a newly designed mission module, providing unparalleled operational efficiency.

The GMRV variant includes a highly secure crew compartment with advanced self-defense weapons that can be controlled directly from the inside, ensuring optimal crew safety. In addition, the vehicle's design has been designed to accommodate a NATO-standard pallet in the rear, offering endless possibilities for integrating complex mission systems. These may include Short-Range Air Defense (SHORAD) systems and other mission-critical technologies beyond the traditional patrol car.

By improving protection and firepower while retaining the core capabilities of the original Foxhound, the GMRV is set to be a game-changer for military operations. General Dynamics UK is keen to use this new option for both the UK Army and international allies, focusing on export opportunities for partners around the world. The vehicle is designed, engineered and manufactured entirely in the UK, ensuring quality control and compliance with the National Defense Industrial Strategy.

The original Foxhound LPPV has long been renowned for its protection and mobility in high risk environments. This new variant of the GMRV continues this legacy, but with significant improvements in operational flexibility and modular integration. Ability to smoothly switch between roles — from patrolling to air defense — without the need for a completely different vehicle underlines its value on the modern battlefield.

As militaries around the world face increasingly complex operational landscapes, the Foxhound GMRV is poised to offer a solution that can evolve with these changing requirements. With design and manufacturing firmly rooted in the UK, the car is also a testament to its defense capability and commitment to innovation.
