FSIN faces audit over allegations of misuse of public funds

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is preparing to conduct an audit of funds it granted to the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations of Saskatchewan (FSIN) over a period of almost five years due to x27;allegations of misuse of public funds.

In a letter sent on March 15 to the management of the FSIN obtained by CBC/Radio-Canada , SAC says it plans to evaluate how the funds it awarded were spent.

The audit concerns several financing agreements concluded between April 1, 2019 and today. The period evaluated could, however, expand depending on the auditor's conclusions.

In an email, a spokesperson for SAC, Randy Legault- Rankin, notes that the department is aware of the allegations regarding the [FSIN].

The Ministry takes allegations and complaints regarding the misuse of public funds very seriously. He has a process in place to ensure that these allegations and complaints are properly investigated and appropriate action is taken, he maintains.

CBC/Radio-Canada was unable to obtain further details on the allegations that sparked the controversy. interest of SAC.

Randy Legault-Rankin specifies that SAC will not provide information on the progress of the audit. He adds that the ministry does not comment on specific allegations or complaints, but can confirm that they were received.

D' after SAC's letter to the FSIN, the international professional services firm KPMG will carry out the audit.

CBC/Radio-Canada attempted to repeatedly contacted the FSIN, but received no response.
