From real life. “People paid no attention to the old beggar with a dog”: A woman threw him some change. What the passersby did

An old blind beggar with a dog sat in front of a bakery. People were passing by, and cooks were entering the shop to buy bread and rolls.

They were just minding their own business. There were many beggars on the street. And old, emaciated dogs.

The holidays were approaching, there was a lot of work, everyone was busy with their own worries. And the gas lantern burned weakly. It was snowing. The cold was getting stronger. A dirty hat lay in front of a hungry beggar.

In cities, you can see many people who are struggling with difficulties. On the streets we meet beggars, old, emaciated dogs, and the glow of the gas lantern, which barely illuminates the winter night. The falling snow only intensifies the feeling of cold and hopelessness.

A woman in a headscarf, dressed in a worn plush jacket, threw in some change. She was poor, she couldn't afford more. The woman crossed her arms and kept walking. She disappeared into the darkness.

Although she was poor herself, her gesture reminded others of the need to share. Slowly, more and more people began to add their coins, and each penny became a ray of hope for the hungry beggar and his companion. What we call a “small gesture” can change the life of another person.

You have to be the first to throw a coin. Say something good. Even if it's just a few pennies, it's more valuable than empty advice or unnecessary teaching. The first small act of kindness opens the way. And opens the hearts of other people. And I think it's rewarding. Because giving someone one day of life is already a lot, an unbelievable amount.
