My husband, Adam, was a good man, but our marriage had been devoid of spark for a long time.
When I first met Marek, everything inside me trembled. He was different from my husband – full of passion, energy, as if the world revolved around him. It started innocently: long conversations, glances that said more than words, and then furtive meetings. Every day with him seemed like a dream, as if life took on new colors in his presence.
My husband, Adam, was a good man, but our marriage had long lacked spark. The routine, the everyday, the silence at dinner – all of that made me feel like a shadow of myself. Marek was the complete opposite. His smile, his touch, his promises – all of that made me dream of something more.
„Leave him,– he told me one day, holding my hand. „You don't deserve this kind of life. We could be together, happy.” I looked at him, believing every word he said. In his eyes I saw the future I always wanted.
It was hard to make a decision, but I did it. I left Adam. I packed my bags, leaving a note on the kitchen table. “I'm sorry, but I have to go with what I feel,” I wrote. I cried as I closed the door behind me, but deep down I believed I was doing it for love.
Mark and I felt free. We planned our future together, talked about leaving, about a new beginning. But there was still one obstacle, his wife. “I don't understand,” he said when I asked why he hadn't left her yet. “It's not that simple. I need time.”
Time passed, and his promises became more and more empty. Every conversation ended with the same: „Not yet.” I began to feel that something was wrong. One evening, when I asked him again when he would leave her, he looked at me with concern. „Maybe we should slow down,– he said, and his words were like a punch to the heart.
„Slow down?!” – I exclaimed. „I left everything for you! My husband, my life! And you talk about slowing down?”
„You don't understand– he replied, avoiding my gaze. „This has all become too complicated. I love you, but… I can't ruin her life.”
The words sounded like the worst nightmare. „You can't destroy her life? What about mine?!” – I screamed, feeling my heart break. But he didn't answer anymore. I knew it was over.
I was left alone – without a husband, without a lover, with a life that fell to pieces. Returning to the empty apartment, I realized what a huge mistake I made by believing his words. Adam would never give me as much passion as Marek, but he was honest. He was real. And I destroyed everything for someone who didn't even have the courage to stand by my side.
Now every day I fight what I did. I cheated on someone who loved me for a man who only made promises. Sometimes love isn't a flame – sometimes it's a delicate light that's worth protecting. But I realized that too late.
