The city hall of Cannes plans to use drones to monitor work on construction sites.
As reported by “European Truth” with reference to La Figaro, the city hall of Cannes publishes about 130 reports each year on possible violations of the urban planning code. However, possible violations cannot always be recorded from accessible locations.
This problem is planned to be solved with the help of drones.
In particular, as the city hall notes, the drones will “observe and be able to determine in private areas, visible or invisible from the public road, the true nature of the offense committed”.
As noted, “images taken from the air can be used by judicial authorities. They will also be used to improve municipal mapping and better understand the condition of the built heritage”.
Currently, the city hall has already purchased a light C5 class drone, which will be operated by three municipal specialists (two from urban planning and one from geographic information system). In the future, the number of drones should increase.
