Fraudsters lured a gullible Kolomyia resident out of 50,000 hryvnias for a non-existent motorcycle

A resident of Kolomyia became a victim of online fraud, believing an attractive offer to purchase a motorcycle online. The attackers disappeared immediately after receiving the advance payment for the vehicle.

A gullible man from the Carpathians became another victim of online fraud, losing almost 50,000 hryvnias while trying to purchase a motorcycle online. A man, a resident of Kolomyia, found an attractive ad for the sale of a two-wheeled vehicle on one of the online platforms and decided to take advantage of the offer.

“The victim, according to a previous agreement, transferred the agreed amount as a prepayment for the motorcycle”, – reported in the communication department of the police of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

After establishing contact with the pseudo-seller and agreeing on all the details of the transaction, the gullible buyer transferred the funds to the specified details, after which the fraudster immediately stopped communicating and blocked all communication channels.

In light of the fact of fraud, the investigative units of the Kolomyia district police department have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, law enforcement officers are conducting the necessary operational and investigative measures to identify the person attacker.

“We urge you not to believe in the sale of valuable property at an extremely low price, as this is usually a sign of dishonest intentions of the seller – you risk receiving goods of dubious quality or being left without money and purchases altogether”, – law enforcement officers emphasize.

The police once again appeal to citizens to be vigilant when making online purchases and to carefully check the reliability of sellers before making any financial transactions, especially when it comes to prepaying for goods.
