France will transfer to Ukraine decommissioned weapons that are released due to the army rearmament program.
As French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said, the transfer of weapons does not affect national security in any way, since the weapons being transferred are decommissioned.
In addition, the minister added, that the weapons that Ukraine is receiving today fall into the decommissioned category, as AMX-10RC armored fighting vehicles are replaced by modern EBRC Jaguars, and VABs by VBCIs.
"Instead of throwing these weapons and equipment into a landfill or give them to other countries, we give them to the Ukrainian army. But I repeat: this does not deteriorate our defense capability,” — said the Minister of Defense.
Lecornu also noted that the weapons transferred from the French Armed Forces will soon be replenished, as the country is allocating large investments to expand weapons production.
As you know, France is implementing a massive land component modernization program known as the Scorpion program. After it is carried out, Paris will write off, in particular, a large number of VAB armored personnel carriers.
