Foreign blogger arrested in Berlin for setting fire to apartment with fireworks

German police detained a 23-year-old influencer who launched fireworks at an apartment in Berlin on New Year's Eve.

This is reported by “European Pravda” with reference to DW.

A 23-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released, was detained at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport on suspicion of attempted arson, causing grievous bodily harm and damage to property.

In his Instagram account with more than 310,000 followers, the guy posted a currently unavailable video of fireworks being launched in the Neukölln district of Berlin towards an apartment.

As a result of the incident, no one was injured, and the residents of the apartment were able to quickly put out the fire that started after the fireworks were set off.

Before the arrest, the blogger was outraged by the investigation into the incident. In one of the videos on social networks, he said that this happened because of racism in Germany and that he plans to return to his homeland.

But he later stated that the incident “was a mistake” and published an apology to the owner of the apartment.

The Berlin police said that the 23-year-old blogger will appear before a judge on January 5, who will announce a preventive measure against him.

The blogger's video caused outrage amid a broad discussion in Germany about injuries and damages caused by New Year's fireworks. Because of them, at least five people died and many were injured.
