Flying in the stratosphere: the first invisible UAV for launching from a balloon is presented

The Eagle drone can seamlessly transition from supersonic to low speeds while maintaining low visibility in enemy territory.

Landing Zones Canada Inc. announced the completion of the development of an unmanned aerial vehicle for delivering payloads, called the Eagle Advanced Payload Delivery System (APDS). This is stated in a press release published on the PR Newswire portal.

Eagle is reported to be the world's first high-altitude balloon-launched APDS that combines high performance, low observability and stealth characteristics. The system can operate both in fully autonomous mode and with human participation.

A distinctive feature of this UAV is the variable wing profile, which allows the drone to smoothly transition from supersonic speed to low speed flight, optimizing characteristics for different missions.

According to the manufacturer, the Eagle is capable of reaching stratospheric altitudes. Since the drone's design is focused on stealth, it maintains minimal radar visibility, which significantly increases its survivability in hostile airspace.

The company noted that during recent flight tests, the Eagle demonstrated its ability to adapt, including the ability to perform tasks in extreme operational and climatic conditions.

“With the Eagle, we are setting a new standard for military drone technology,” — said Landing Zones Canada Inc. founder and CEO Spence Fraser.
