Five Israeli soldiers died as a result of 'friendly fire' in the Gaza Strip

Defense Army Israel (IDF) reported on Thursday, May 16, that five of its soldiers were killed as a result of an Israeli tank shot in the north of the Gaza Strip, Voice of America reports.

Three more soldiers were injured.

The IDF attributed the incident to tank fire.

The incident brought the number of Israeli troops killed since the start of the war last October to 273.
