Finland will buy equipment to protect against GPS jamming by Russia

Russia is increasing its hybrid attacks on European countries.
Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkiänen approved the decision of the country's Defense Forces to sign a framework agreement on the purchase of inertial navigation devices that provide accurate location determination even in the absence of GPS, the signal of which is periodically jammed by Russia.

This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of Finland.

Inertial navigation systems allow weapons and other systems to be used even in the event of GPS outages, which is increasingly important in today's threats. The deal is expected to cover purchases until 2031 and the total value of the devices, including possible options, will be 48 million euros excluding VAT. The supplier is the French company Safran Electronics & Defence.

The move is part of a broader effort by Finland to strengthen its defense capabilities in response to threats from Russia. Earlier, the prime minister of Finland warned about hybrid attacks that Moscow is carrying out against the European Union, including the jamming of GPS signals and the use of migrants to put pressure on the countries of the region.

In connection with Russian aggression&nbsp ;Finland is also increasing combat readiness by increasing the production of military shells. The country now produces about ten times more ammunition than it did five years ago.
