Europa Park: Passengers on this roller coaster had the fright of their lives

In general, when you go to an amusement park it is to spend a friendly time with your friends and family. Security is generally there, but incidents can sometimes occur. We remember that an altercation broke out at Parc Astérix last summer, another incident at Port Aventura caused injuries to 14 customers, or at Futuroscope where the Objectif Mars attraction was the victim of a fire in April 2023. Today, it was an attraction at Europa Park that had to deal with an incident during which customers experienced horror if they were afraid of heights.

30 minutes stuck at 38 meters high

Indeed, if the passengers of the Blue Fire Megacoaster attraction at Europa-Park wanted thrills, they got their money's worth. As reported by the France Bleu website, the amusement park located in Germany had to deal with a major incident on this thrill ride this Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the ride faced a technical problem that trapped twenty passengers 38 meters high for 30 minutes. In the images that were relayed on social networks, we can see that the train of the attraction remained stuck at the top of a tilted bend with some visitors' heads almost down.

Very quickly, the park teams reacted by installing a lifting platform to be able to communicate and reassure customers stuck in the merry-go-round. Then, it was around 1:35 p.m. that the situation was resolved. The cars were able to be put back into motion so that the train could finally return to its launch zone. From then on, the passengers were able to get out of the ride to the applause of the other visitors who had witnessed the scene.

The park management issued a statement following the incident, explaining that this happened because a “Blue Fire train was unable to make it over the first climb and stopped“. The park's statement states that customers were not required to be evacuated to higher ground. According to TF1, the unlucky passengers were offered a free night and two days of unlimited rides.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that this roller coaster has experienced a technical incident. Last April, the day after its 15th anniversary, the park decided to close the attraction because the cars were unable to gain enough speed to pass the first climb. Fortunately, this technical problem did not cause any injuries.
