On Wednesday, October 2, the European Union took a step toward imposing sanctions on Russia in response to a series of recent hybrid and subversive actions across Europe. Reports of the EU's retaliatory measures came from diplomatic circles, Agence France-Presse reports.
The EU and NATO accuse Moscow of organizing a number of incidents aimed at destabilizing the situation in Western countries. EU governments including Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Estonia have reported uncovering plots linked to similar incidents, including arson attacks orchestrated by Moscow in recent months.

Diplomats say the EU will be able to blacklist specific Russian agents or organisations once the text is formally signed next week.
European officials have stressed that Russia's actions are partly aimed at undermining European support for Ukraine. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the EU has imposed an unprecedented 14 rounds of sanctions against Russia, aimed at hampering the Kremlin's war machine.
In an effort to curb Moscow's malign activity, some EU countries, including – The Czech Republic is seeking to adopt measures to prevent the free movement of Russian diplomats across the bloc. This step has not yet received the general support of the European Union.
