Elon Musk: Trump will pardon Ross Ulbricht

Billionaire Elon Musk said that President Donald Trump will pardon the founder of the marketplace Ross Ulbricht, who is serving a sentence in prison. This was one of the politician's pre-election promises.

Ulbricht's arrest and Trump's promise

Ross Ulbricht was arrested in 2013. He was accused of drug trafficking, cybercrimes and aiding and abetting money laundering. In 2015, the court sentenced him to two life terms plus 40 years without parole.

In October 2023, Ulbricht celebrated his anniversary in prison, he spent exactly 10 years behind bars at that time. In a post on his X page, he stated that he was afraid to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Many activists support Ulbricht and consider his punishment too severe. A petition for his release on the website Change.org has gained more than 600,000 signatures.

In May 2024, Trump first promised to fire Ulbricht. According to the politician, he has already spent enough time behind bars.
