Elon Musk presented the long-awaited robotaxi, which received the name Cybercab. The price of such a car will be less than 30,000 dollars, the founder of Tesla said during the presentation of the new product.

The presentation took place at the Warner Bros. studio in Burbank, California, as part of the “We, the Robot” event strong>. The project caused many expectations and doubts, especially after a number of postponements and changes in its implementation.

The Cybercab was originally slated for an August release, but was pushed back to October due to design changes that Musk says will play a key role. Cybercablooks like a more compact version of the Cybertruck. Its CyberCab feature is the absence of a steering wheel and pedals, making it completely autonomous. In this regard, Tesla will need special permission from regulators before starting production and sales. The details of the “cybertaxi” power plant have not yet been disclosed.

Cybercab is to become a direct competitor to Waymo – the self-driving car division of Alphabet (Google's parent company), whose robotaxis are already operating successfully in San Francisco and other US cities.
