Duralex kept afloat by its employees

En financial difficulty, the famous French company of tempered glass tableware has been making headlines in recent days. After the bankruptcy of the French company Caddie on July 16, the mobilization seems to be intensifying to prevent the same fate from being suffered reserved for Duralex. So much so that it was able to be taken over by its employees in a cooperative in order to allow its survival.

The cooperative plan seems serious enough to the Orléans commercial court to allow the 266 jobs to be maintained thanks to a commercial and marketing project deemed “coherent and serious”. In order to allow the creation of the cooperative, 150 employees decided to get involved by investing 500 euros each. The company, regularly worried by financial difficulties for twenty years, had as a last option the saving momentum of its employees. The latest difficulty, despite state aid with a loan of 15 million euros, the war in Ukraine has drastically increased energy prices, which the company has not been able to absorb.

Wanting to be positive, the plant director, François Marciano, emphasizes: “We are relieved for all the Duralex employees who fought. Everyone came to our side to win. The employees are more than motivated, we invite all French people to buy Duralex!”, as reported by The Epoch Times.

The flagship of French industry is therefore gaining a new respite that could be short-lived if the situation continues like this. In a new spotlight, the candidate for the post of Prime Minister of the New Popular Front, Lucie Castets, arrived in great pomp at the foot of the factory to show her support for the company and the mobilized workers. According to France 3, the employees' efforts were not in vain. Duralex is even said to be ” overwhelmed with orders after the company was saved by the employees “.

Enough to be a vector of hope for the future of this French production that represents a real national pride. Despite some disagreements over the political takeovers of the subject, the urgent need is for the health of the almost century-old society.
