DHL plane crash in Lithuania: investigation finds no evidence of sabotage

The investigation into the plane crash of the logistics operator DHL in Vilnius, which occurred in late November, has found no evidence of possible external interference.

This was announced by the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice, whose Transport Accidents and Incidents Investigation Department conducted the investigation, reports “European Pravda”.

The department says it has ruled out sabotage after analyzing the flight recorder of the crashed Boeing 737-47, as well as cockpit voice recordings. These were analyzed by experts in Germany involved in the investigation.

“By reading certain flight parameters from the flight recorder, it was possible to reconstruct the first picture of the plane's flight path,” the statement explains.

“According to the Department of Investigation of Transport Accidents and Incidents of the Ministry of Justice, the currently available factual information once again confirms that there are no signs of unlawful interference with the crashed plane,” added the Ministry of Justice.

The agency specified that the plane crash continues to be investigated by the International Flight Safety Investigation Team, which includes investigators from relevant bodies in Spain, Germany, and the United States.

As a reminder, the Boeing 737-476(SF) cargo plane crashed near Vilnius Airport on the morning of November 25. The plane belonged to the Spanish airline Swiftair and was used to transport parcels by DHL, and was flying from Leipzig in Germany.

The crash has attracted particular attention amid reports that Russia was planning arson operations against cargo and passenger planes, and that packages that previously caught fire at DHL logistics centers in Germany and Britain were sent from Lithuania. However, there has been no official mention of the findings that could indicate sabotage.
