Death Note: Next Project Revealed By Mistake, Fans Will Be Overjoyed

A cult classic, Death Note is one of those classics that we recommend with our eyes closed. Although its image has been tarnished by Netflix's live-action adaptation, Death Note remains in the pantheon of anime and manga. What about the sequel? Well, a new project is in the works, as evidenced by this leak.

A New Death Note Game Coming?

The classification of a new Death Note game has been spotted on the official Taiwanese website, as spotted by Gematsu. Little information is available at about it, but this new game Death Note would be planned for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5. Literally translated from Taiwanese to English, its name would be Death Note: Shadow Mission. However, the filing of the trademark “Death Note: Killer Within” in 2024 in several regions suggests that this name would not be definitive.

A title published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, whose announcement could be imminent. It is possible that this new Death Note game will be revealed to the general public at the next Game Awards. Towards the announcement of a Death Note gameon PS4 and PS5 at The Game Awards 2024? Possible. While this information should be taken with a grain of salt, it must be admitted that previous leaks related to Taiwan's video game classification body have often been proven correct.

So there is a lot to bet that this leak of a new Death Note game will do the same. In any case, we will have to be patient. This is not the first time that Tsugumi Ōba's universe has been adapted into a video game. Konami already lent itself to the exercise between 2007 and 2008 with three games: Death Note: Kira Game, Death Note: Successors to L, and L the Prologue to Death Note: Spiraling Trap. Games that have not necessarily left their mark minds for the right reasons, let's hope the fourth try is the charm.
