DC: James Gunn officially announces the arrival of these two cult characters

After the series The Penguin from DC Studios which landed on the Max platform, James Gunn who took over the reins of the DCEU alongside Peter Safran has just officialized a totally unexpected project but which will allow two cult characters to finally make their arrival at the screen.

Indeed, to everyone's surprise, James Gunn, who arrived at DC to oversee the overhaul of the DCEU with Peter Safran, officially announced a project that no one expected. Thus, it was on his Instagram account that Gunn declared that he was “excited to announce a new DC Studios/Warners Bros Pictures Animation animated film coming to theaters.

This animated feature film ; is called Dynamic Duoand as James Gunn specifies he will be interested in “the story of Robin … or should I say Robins“ because this project will be the opportunity to bring to the big screen the characters of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, two heroes who have worn the Robin costume.

Note that this film Dynamic Duo which will tell the beginnings of these two cult characters as Robin will not be part of the universe set up by James Gunn unlike the animated series Creature Commandos which will be part of the DC Comics cinematic universe.

Buzz Lightyear Writer to Write Script, New Animation Technique Planned

The director/producer also announced that Arthur Mintz will direct the animated film and that Matt Aldrich, the co-writer of Coco and Buzz Lightyear, will be behind the script. Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, will be producingstarring Robert Pattinson, in association with 6th & Idaho.

The animation will be produced by Swaybox Studios, owned by Arthur Mintz and his wife Theresa Anderson and which offers a new animation technology called Momo animation. It is based on a mix of CGI, puppets, motion capture and stop-motion techniques which allows for a result that is “expressive and more human“.
