Dangerous SMS messages that should be deleted from your phone immediately have been named

Cyber security experts are recording an increase in online fraud using hacked messenger accounts. Fraudsters send messages on behalf of acquaintances asking to borrow money or follow suspicious links.

Typical lures include: offers to vote in a contest, receive a prize or discount, or view photos with friends. If you receive an unexpected request for financial assistance, even from someone you know, be sure to call them personally for confirmation, experts advise.

According to police, after receiving a suspicious message, it is recommended to:

  • do not reply to the message;
  • do not follow the links;
  • delete messages with suspicious content;
  • contact the sender through alternative communication channels.
