Dandadan: Episode 3 of the anime censored for these scenes deemed too obscene

Episode 3 of Dandadan has just been the subject of significant censorship for the outfits deemed too sexy of one of the major characters.

Anime is one of the most censored projects. In some countries, some episodes are subject to censorship for various reasons: shocking content, subversive motifs (blood, cigarettes, weapons, etc.), and of course hidden intimate body parts.

After One Piece or Attack on Titan, it is the turn of Dandadan to be subject to censorship. Written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu, the series has been published since April 2021 by Shōnen Jump+. The French can watch the adventures of Momo Ayase and her friend Ken Takakura on Crunchyroll. Recently,the anime that became popular (and dubbed by Hideo Kojima) has been broadcast on Netflix since October 3, but its episode 3 has been censored in China.

Sexy Granny's outfits censored in China

In the episode titled, It's a Granny vs. Granny Clash!,psychic Seiko Ayase, also known as Sexy Granny, appears for the first time. Presented in a very sexy way (which did not fail to have an effect on Reddit), Seiko Ayase's outfits were censored by Chinese censors, who decided to apply their axe.

Streaming service BiliBili, which airs the series, surprised Chinese fans by hiding Seiko's said outfits. From her chest-flaunting tops to her short shorts,Seiko's outfits have been slightly modified. As seen below, the bodysuits have been adjusted to fully cover her chest.

Conversely, and as some users have pointed out on the anime's associated subreddit, the Japanese and Western versions of the anime have amplified the nudity of the medium compared to the original manga. A form of reverse censorship that has been appreciated by the community.

Dandadan Episode 4 will be available on October 24, 2024 at 6:00 PM (French time) on Netflix. Revealed as Momo's grandmother, Seiko has motivated her granddaughter to develop her psychic powers, as well as those of Okarun, in preparation for a new confrontation against Turbo Granny, the yokai with long, thick, shaggy white hair.
