Countries possessing nuclear weapons have increased their dependence on them, – SIPRI

Stockholm Monitoring The organization said the world's nine nuclear-weapon states continue to modernize their nuclear arsenals, increasing their reliance on nuclear deterrence in 2023.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) estimates that about 2,100 of the deployed warheads are in ballistic missiles are on high alert, and almost all of them belong to Russia and the United States, reports  Associated Press.

For the first time, it is believed that China also has warheads on high alert.

A separate report from the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons said nine nuclear-weapon states last year spent a total of $91.4 billion on their arsenals.
