Controls thousands of drones simultaneously: the US has created a new technology for the military

The AMORPHOUS software can control a group of drones, payloads and systems, even if they are from different manufacturers.

The American military-industrial company L3Harris Technologies has introduced a software solution called AMORPHOUS, designed to control thousands of drones through a single user interface. This is stated in a press release on the official L3Harris website.

It is reported that the new software will allow the US Armed Forces and allies to control a variety of unmanned platforms, payloads and systems, even if they are manufactured by different companies.

“Autonomy — is an amplification factor, which is why we designed AMORPHOUS as a multi-domain, multi-purpose capability that quickly integrates a variety of unmanned systems in the battlespace,” — said John Rambo, president of L3Harris’ Integrated Mission Systems division.

The company says AMORPHOUS supports decentralized decision-making, allowing individual unmanned vehicles to autonomously perform their own missions and make tactical decisions in real time within a network.

L3Harris is currently developing prototypes using the AMORPHOUS architecture under contracts with the U.S. Army and the Defense Innovation Division. During testing, the technology has demonstrated the ability to control multiple individual systems on multiple vehicle types operating in different domains.
