Charges a smartphone in 2 seconds: how an unusual “toaster” device works (video)

The Swippitt IPS device simultaneously charges up to five 3500 mAh batteries, but it is not suitable for all phone models.

The American startup Swippitt presented a desktop device for fast charging smartphones, the Instant Power System (IPS), at the CES 2025 exhibition, which resembles a toaster. This is reported by the New Atlas portal.

Swippitt IPS Device Will Replace an Extra Battery in 2 Seconds

The IPS is said to be a battery replacement system that combines advanced digital technology with simpler mechanical ones. This toaster-like desktop module stores and charges up to five separate 3,500mAh batteries at the same time.

The batteries themselves are not the phone's internal batteries. The system uses Swippitt Link batteries, which can serve as both protective cases and extra batteries that double the phone's life. The replacement process takes just two seconds.

“Insert your phone into the Hub slot, and the Hub will remove the Link case and replace it with a fully charged one via an internal conveyor system, automatically starting the charging process for the newly stored, discharged Link pack,” the publication explains.

As the authors of the article note, since the Swippitt IPS includes five batteries, it can service multiple phones, making it a convenient solution for a family or small office. You can get information about battery life and manage the system through a special application.

The publication emphasized that at the time of launch, Link battery cases will only be compatible with iPhone 14, 15, and 16 models. Swippitt plans to provide compatibility with Android devices and additional iPhone generations by the end of 2025.
