Buyers of the iPad mini 7 tablet will face another unpleasant surprise from Apple

The Apple company has installed a reduced chip in the iPad mini 7 under the guise of a fully functional one. This is written by WCCF Tech.

What is known about the new iPad mini 7

Earlier we wrote about the release of the updated iPad mini from Apple. “Minik” The 7th generation turned out to be a complete copy of the previous version in terms of design, while the internal content was slightly updated. Instead of Apple A15 in iPad mini 6, the new tablet now works on a chip with the proud name Apple A17 Pro – this is the one installed in last year's iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max flagships. But you should not rejoice.

According to the source, the new tablet will not be equal to last year's iPhones in terms of performance, despite the seemingly similar chip. It turns out that for the iPad mini 7, Apple engineers stocked reduced versions of the A17 Pro, which contain only 5 instead of 6 graphics cores, as in the iPhone 15 Pro. Considering everything, the company decided to save money and installed rejected chips from last year's iPhones in the newest tablet; they have one faulty graphics core disabled by software. Apple already used this approach in the MacBook Air M1 in 2020.

It is interesting that the iPad mini 6 also had a “suffocation”: its A15 chip worked slower than the same A15 in the iPhone 13 Pro. Then the journalists came to the conclusion that Apple “suppressed” processor in a mini for marketing purposes. Apparently, iPad mini fans are doomed to regularly feel a little cheated.
