Blue Lock: Anime fans aren't keen on season 2 and it's understandable

Since October 5, fans of the football anime Blue Lock can discover the first arc of season 2. But it is clear that despite the public's expectations, the production seems not to meet what the public expected. Here's why.

A season 2 for Blue Lock that doesn't meet fans' expectations

When it comes to sports anime, the public is more than passionate and Blue Lock is no exception to the rule. This was also the case for Haikyu!! and Yuri!!! on Ice which are respectively dedicated to volleyball and figure skating and which are productions appreciated in particular for the incredible scenes they were able to offer.

After season 1 of Blue Lock which blew fans away, the wait was high for the sequel. And the return of the football anime really didn't meet with unanimous approval from the public who were hoping for great things for season 2. Indeed, this new season of the anime has to deal with a huge flaw that everyone is pointing out: its animation is more than mediocre and this, not to say almost non-existent in the first episodes.

An animation worthy of a PowerPoint

For this season 2 of Blue Lock, Isagi and his opponents are back to offer fans a new arc which is the adaptation of the manga signed by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura produced by the studio 8-Bit. But what comes up regularly on social networks is of course the question of animation. To start this new season, the public attends the conclusion of the arc of season 1 and continues with a match against the U-20 national team of Japan. Except that this meeting did not excite the spectators who go so far as to say that the anime resembles a PowerPoint or that the manga offers more movement.

Some people joke that if it doesn't have decent animation, at least the graphics have some aesthetic appeal. That's it. Other commentators try to defend the anime by arguing that this is just the beginning of season 2 and that the studio didn't necessarily allocate its entire budget for this mini-arc that goes all the way to episode 3.

It's worth noting that the animators of Blue Lock are overloaded with work with this season 2 as well as the production of a film. The studio has to deal with a particularly busy schedule and add to that the fact that the artists behind the anime are underpaid. But we can also understand the disappointment of the public while these new episodes of Blue Lock were particularly awaited by the fans.
