Biden presents Presidential Medal of Freedom to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour

US President Joe Biden presented the country's highest civilian award – the Presidential Medal of Freedom – to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. She was honored for her exceptional contributions to the world of fashion and culture.

US President Joe Biden presented Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour with the Presidential Medal of Freedom – the highest civilian honor in the United States. The awards ceremony took place on January 4 at the White House and was one of Biden's last official events in office.

Anna Wintour was honored for her contributions to fashion, culture and journalism. Other honorees included former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, actor Michael J. Fox, U2 singer Bono, designer Ralph Lauren, actor Denzel Washington and conservationist Jane Goodall.

«These are truly exceptional people who have shaped the culture and ideals of America», — Biden said at the awards ceremony.

The British Embassy in Washington responded to the event. On the X platform, the embassy noted that two Britons were among those who received the highest US civilian award from President Joe Biden.

«Vogue editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour and environmentalist Dame Jane Goodall were awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for their “extraordinary contributions” to world development», — the British Embassy said in a statement.
