Before/After: Here's What Happened to the Actors of RRRrrr!!! in 2024

Bringing together the cream of the Comédie-Française like Alain Chabat, Valérie Lemercier, Marina Foïs, Jean-Paul Rouve and Gerard Depardieu, RRRrrr!!!is a cult film among French comedies. With its completely absurd pitch, which revolves around the secret recipe for a shampoo that a tribe called the Dirty Hair Tribe wants to seize at the height of Pierre's age, the comedy with thriller accents by Alain Chabat is known to all. However, the feature film released in 2004 literally flopped at the box office, in addition to being stoned by the French-speaking press. Bad press that – at the time – greatly affected the director of Asterix and Obelix Mission Cleopatra, and which led him to take a break. Today, in 2024, what happened to the actors and actresses of the film?

#1 Alain Chabat

Didier, Les Nuls, Burger Quiz, La Cité of Fear, Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, are all projects that have made Alain Chabat one of the coolest and most popular personalities in France. This year, he is expected with a Netflix animated series adapting the seventh volume of the adventures of the Irreducible Gauls, which he wrote and co-directed. Asterix & Obelix: The Battle of the Chiefs was also revealed this year through a first image.

#2 Maurice Barthélemy

The former member of the Robins des Bois comedy troupe on Canal + tried his hand at directing with Casablanca Driver in 2004, before continuing with Papa a year later, carried by his sidekick Alain Chabat. He then went on to star in several comedies in the 2010s, before going back behind the camera for Les Tuche 2 by Olivier Baroux in 2017, then Zaï zaï zaï zaï by François Desagnat in 2022.

#3 Marina Foïs

At 54, Marina Foïs has an excellent CV. After comedic performances in La Tour Montparnasse infernale (2001), Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (2002), or RRRrrrr!!!, She stood out in more dramatic roles in the 2010s, as evidenced by her four nominations for the César Award for Best Actress: for Darling (2008), Polisse (2011), Irréprochable (2017), and L'Atelier (2018).

#4 Pierre-François Martin-Laval

Just like Marina Foïs, Pierre-François Martin-Laval starred in Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra and The Tower of Montparnasse Infernale. After 2010, he became known in Les Profs (2013), Les Profs 2 (2015) and Gaston Lagaffe (2018). He also wrote and directed the film adapted from the famous comic book, which was heavily criticized, in addition to having fallen flat on its face in French theaters.

#5 Jean-Paul Rouve

As well as Comfortable in both the comic and dramatic registers, Jean-Paul Rouve is one of the biggest figures in French cinema. Between supporting roles in Monsieur Batignole, Nos Jours Heureux and La Môme, he won the César for best supporting actor in 2005 for playing Michel Polnareff's double in Podium. After 2010, his fame took off again when he played the famous Jeff Tuche in the hit film series Les Tuche. As a good, whimsical Ch'ti father, he steals the show in the first two films, before the franchise gets bogged down in rehash.

#6 Pascal Vincent

Known for being the founding member of the Robin Hood comedy troupe, of which all the previous actors and actresses are part, and who gathered on RRRrrr!!!, Pascal Vincent also gave the reply to Kad Merad in L'Italien . Some have also noticed him on stage, notably in his one man show, entitled: But apart from that, what do you do in life?

#7 elise larnicol

Less famous than her predecessors, Elise Laricol continued her collaboration with some of the former members of the Robin des Bois troupe, such as Maurice Barthélémy on Casablanca Driver and Les Ex, as well as with Pierre-François Martin-Laval in Essaye-Moi. It was also seen in the seriesScènes de ménagewhere she plays the role of Madame Legault, the neighbor of a young couple, who comes to complain the day after a drunken night out.

#8 Gerard Depardieu

French actor, singer, director, film, television and theatre producer, Gérard Depardieu is a key figure in French cinema. But the legend seriously darkened from 2018, the year when accusations of rape and sexual assault by several women fell. New complaints fell in 2023 and 2024, before the documentary Complément d'Enquêtes entitled The Fall of the Ogre did not reveal dark images about the actor, who was then traveling in North Korea. The case subsequently continued in court, with Depardieu accusing the production company Hikari, which produced the report on France 2, of having manipulated the images.
