Batman: 6 actors to play him in James Gunn's DCU

Since James Gunn's takeover of the DC Universe in the cinema, fans have been wondering about the future of this DC Universe. We have the Superman movie announced for next year with David Corenswet in the title role, but also Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow scheduled for 2026 with Milly Alcock lending her features to Kal-El's cousin, not to mention the The Brave and the Bold project which will put the spotlight on the Gotham vigilante. However, there is currently little information on the casting of this new Batman movieand we can only imagine the actor who would best take on the role of Bruce Wayne. Here are 6 actors who would be perfect in the shoes of the Dark Knight.

The 53-year-old American actor is certainly old enough for the role, but it would offer us an aging Batman who would take the other superheroes under his wing. With his imposing physique, natural charisma and his ability to play mysterious and tortured characters, like in the television series Man Men, Jon Hamm would be a great choice for a mature and experienced Bruce Wayne but one who wouldn't last long in all the DC Universe movies at the cinema.

This Franco-British actor became known in the Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House, where he demonstrated his talent for embodying dark and complex characters. With his athletic physique reminiscent of Christian Bale when he took on the Dark Knight costume and a particular elegance (probably due to his origins), we would have with Oliver Jackson-Cohen a very good interpretation of the Gotham vigilante, both a charismatic billionaire by day and a criminal hunter by night.

An actor already well known to superhero fans, Alan Ritchson has played the role of Aquaman in the series Smallville dedicated to the youth of Clark Kent, but if a certain number of fans of the genre imagine him in the Batman beauty, it is especially following his interpretation in the action series Reacher where he embodies a former military man who investigates criminal cases in a muscular way. With a build very close to the Bruce Wayne of the comics, Alan Ritchson would be very interesting in the role of a Batman in the prime of life and acting as a big brother with the other superheroes of the DC Universe.

#3 Jacob Elordi

He is the youngest actor in the selection, but who has already succeeded in prove his mastery of complex and tormented roles as in the series Euphoriawhere he played Nate Jacobs, a young man with a big dark side. Physically, we would also have here a style like Christian Bale that would undoubtedly please fans of Christopher Nolan's trilogy, but much younger and who would be a relatively inexperienced Bruce Wayne, therefore interesting to see gaining ground.Jacob Elordi being only three years older than Milly Alcock – the future Supergirl -, the development of the two characters could offer us something new.

He is dark-haired – like Bruce Wayne in the comics -, very charismatic, and masters action roles without sacrificing the dramatic dimension. Josh Hutcherson would simply be an extraordinary Batman in terms of his height but an exact copy of the comics in all other aspects of the character.

The 34-year-old British actor is no stranger to action films, as he is none other than the star of the British-American spy films Kingsman, where he plays the young Eggsy, the new recruit in an independent British secret service agency. With his natural charisma, his ability to play vulnerable roles when necessary as in the Elton John biopic Rocketman, but also his easy-going build working to have Bruce Wayne's impressive physique and the fact that he is only a few years older than David Corenswet – the next Clark Kent in James Gunn's Superman movie -, Taron Egerton would be simply perfect to embody the mythical Dark Knight in the streets of Gotham.
