Argentina received a Danish F-16 to train aircraft mechanics

Denmark has handed over an F-16 fighter to the Argentine Air Force, which will be used for training aircraft mechanics.

The aircraft was handed over on December 12 at the Danish Aalborg Air Base.

The fighter was loaded onto an Argentine military transport aircraft KC-130H Hercules.

This Danish F-16 was converted into a so-called «technical& simulator».

It will be used to train Argentine ground personnel who will later operate combat aircraft of this type.

The aircraft was transferred as part of an agreement signed in April of this year.

At that time, Argentina agreed with Denmark to supply 24 used F-16 fighters worth about $300 million.

According to the agreement, the first F-16 combat aircraft will be transferred in 2025. Then Argentina will receive six units. After that, six F-16 fighters will be delivered each year until 2028 inclusive.

The sale of Danish fighters to Argentina was carried out in close coordination with the US government. In such cases, the United States must authorize the sale of F-16 aircraft.

The Danish Air Force is replacing the F-16 with the fifth-generation F-35A fighter jet.

In early November, the United States also approved the supply of ammunition and equipment to Argentina for 24 F-16 fighters ordered from Denmark. The list includes AIM-120 medium-range air-to-air missiles and laser-guided bombs. In addition, the purchase of various auxiliary equipment for working with F-16 fighters is planned.

The purchase of these combat aircraft from Denmark will allow Argentina to strengthen its capabilities to provide air defense and improve the overall condition of its air forces.
