Are there air defense systems that can destroy 100% of targets: expert's answer

There are no air defense systems that could destroy 100% of targets. Even the Patriot air defense system is capable of shooting down a maximum of 70% of missiles.

This was stated by military expert, reserve major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Getman in a comment on the YouTube channel RBK-Ukraine .

The expert explained that there is a certain possibility of air defense. It is written in the tactical and technical characteristics of any air defense system.

According to him, there are no air defense systems that can destroy 100% of targets.

“Even Patriot, if a target is destroyed by one missile, the probability is 70%, if there is a massive raid, it drops to 40-60%. That is why they fire 2-3 missiles to increase the probability of hitting targets. With 2-3 missiles, the probability rises to 90%, but it has never risen to 100%,” said Getman.

It should be noted that during the full-scale war with Russia, Ukraine created a unique system air defense – no country in the world has such a variety of air defense means. And it proves its effectiveness by shooting down everything it can get its hands on: from kamikaze drones to ballistic missiles.
