Apple Pencil will get a new additional function

The new Apple Pencil 3 stylus will add a compression function to launch various functions. Evidence was found in the code of the beta version of the iPadOS 17.5 operating system, writes 9to5Mac.

Data miners found confirmation that Apple is working on a new stylus. There was also information about a new function. Apple Pencil 3 will get “Squeeze”, which can be activated by pressing on the surface of the stylus. The function will allow you to quickly perform various actions. For example, it will come in handy when adding inscriptions or shapes when editing images.

The current model of the stylus, the Apple Pencil 2, only has a double-tap gesture. It allows you to switch between tools, while it does not have pressure sensors on the surface. It is assumed that such sensors will be added to the new version, which will also receive a compression function.

Earlier in iPadOS 17.4, a new version of the PencilKit API, which is used for the compatibility of applications with a stylus, was discovered. However, the developers were not told what new functions the interface received. According to rumors, this may become known in May, when the company, according to journalists, will present the new iPad Pro and iPad Air.
