Another Ultra flagship on Android is coming: the specifications look promising

The leak comes from trusted tipster Roland Quandt, who claims that the Zenfone 12 Ultra will be a “slightly trimmed down version” of the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro.

Asus is set to unveil its next flagship, the Zenfone 12 Ultra, on February 6, 2025. And now, just days before the official launch, its specs and images have leaked online, giving us a sneak peek at what to expect, androidpolice.com writes.

The leak comes from reliable tipster Roland Quandt, who claims that the Zenfone 12 Ultra will be a “slightly trimmed down version” of the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro — much in the same way that the Zenfone 11 Ultra was based on the ROG Phone 8 Pro. That means we can expect a 6.78-inch display with a resolution of 2400×1080 and a refresh rate of 120Hz (which can be increased to 144Hz for supported games). The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

On the back will be a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700 sensor with “gimbal” optical image stabilization (OIS). It will be complemented by a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 120-degree field of view, a 32MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 32MP front camera.

The Zenfone 12 Ultra will run Android 15 with a number of new AI features aimed at improving photos and videos, as well as a 5,500mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the ROG Phone 9 Pro (5,800mAh), but will retain the same 65W fast wired charging and add support for 15W wireless charging.

Interestingly, the Zenfone 12 Ultra will include a 3.5mm headphone jack — a rare feature in today's flagship smartphones. In terms of design, the smartphone will resemble the ROG Phone 9 Pro, but with a smaller camera module and no mini-LED matrix on the rear panel.

While there are no details about pricing and availability yet, we won't have long to wait, as Asus will officially unveil the Zenfone 12 Ultra in just a few days.
