Android Authority experts found clues in Android 16 version DP2 that point to a new multitasking feature. It resembles the OnePlus Open Canvas tool, which is considered one of the best solutions for efficient work on mobile devices with large screens.
Recall that Open Canvas allows you to run up to three applications simultaneously, with two applications occupying 90% of the screen, and the third one taking up the remaining 10%. An interesting point is that the smallest window can be quickly maximized with a single click on it. This way, the user can easily switch between applications.
Open Canvas is only available on OnePlus tablets, but it seems that Google has decided to fix this by offering its own analogue. According to the source, the feature is still in the early stages of development, but it was tested. When trying to add a third application, a preview for three windows appeared on the device's screen, which is very similar to Open Canvas.
Android 15 has a desktop split function, but the ability to display three windows at once will provide more flexibility and make multitasking more efficient.
