A prototype of the first Macintosh will be auctioned later this month. Here are a few facts that make it truly special.
Prototype #M0001 features Apple's own “Twiggy” drive. Apple quickly abandoned the “Twiggy” design due to performance issues, and instead adopted drives from Sony. So there are not just very few such computers in the world – there are only two of them, which makes the lot very valuable for collectors, according to the Bonhams website.
What can be the price? The starting price is listed on the website as “$80,000 – $120,000”. However, it will eventually increase during trading. The computer is expected to break the record of another such model, which sold for $150,075 in 2019.

The company showed an advertisement that presented both the computer and the company itself to viewers – cool, rebellious and heroic, which was going to change the world forever. Although sales were sluggish at first, the all-in-one design eventually took off.
