Amazon has introduced its first e-book with a color display

Amazon presented four new Kindle e-books, the most interesting of which is the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition – the first “reader” of the brand with an e-ink color display. Also out are the second-generation Amazon Scribe, which offers several new AI features, as well as new entry-level Paperwhite and Kindle models.

Details

The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is built on Nitride LED technology, which Amazon claims will deliver colors with excellent contrast, just like on paper. The device will be an ideal choice for reading comics, viewing photos and highlighting words in different colors.

The new device is also waterproof and offers up to eight weeks of battery life and wireless charging. The price is set at $279.99 USD and will start shipping on October 30th.

The Kindle Scribe (2024) has a 10.2-inch screen with a pixel density of 300 ppi and new artificial intelligence features. This includes the ability to summarize text into bullet points and convert handwritten notes to typed text. The reader received the Active Canvas function, which saves notes to the book when you change the layout or font size. Amazon is currently developing a Premium Pen with a soft tip. Priced at $399.99, shipping will begin on December 4.

The Kindle Paperwhite features a 7-inch e-ink panel with a new oxide thin-film transistor that provides an improved contrast ratio for sharper text. Amazon's best-selling e-reader also gets 25% faster page-turning speeds and full water resistance.

Prices start at $159.99 for the standard 16GB edition and go up to $199.99 for the  Signature Edition with 32GB of storage and wireless charging.

Amazon's latest entry-level Kindle is almost identical to the 2022 model, but with faster page turning and 16GB of storage. The price is set at $109.99.
