AirPods Pro 2 owners have encountered an unexpected feature of their headphones, which can cause surprise and discomfort.
Some users have begun to notice that the headphones, while in the charging case or simply lying on the table, make strange squeaks and rings. This causes users to worry about a device malfunction or simply be annoyed by abnormal sounds.
Apple confirmed the existence of such a feature, stating in the support section that the headphones may periodically emit a quiet signal for self-diagnostic purposes to ensure optimal operation of the microphones and speakers. This is especially related to the user's hearing test function. Thus, these sounds are not a defect, but are a normal operation of the system. Unfortunately, as the company notes, the user does not have the ability to disable these periodic signals.
