Agatha: Marvel finally explains the shocking death of SPOILER

The latest Marvel series, Agatha All Along invites us to discover the misadventures of Agatha Harkness, introduced in the very good WandaVision of 2021. 3 episodes out of 9 have already been broadcast, for a mini-series that does not skimp on twists and turns. With the last episode, the spectators were shocked to discover the death of SPOILER, a situation on which the director of the series dwelt.

Agatha All Along didn't hold back. The 11th series of the MCU, whose events are set after those of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, focused on the character of Agatha Harkness. Remember. Agatha loses against Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, and finds herself powerless in the middle of Westview. However, Wanda having been defeated on Mount Wundagore, her spell begins to dissipate. Agatha is finally freed three years later, by a teenager in search of the Witches' Road. The duo, freshly formed, therefore sets out to explore looking for other witches to assemble a sabbath.

And in its episode 3, Agatha All Along decides to kill one of its main characters: Mrs. Hart.Played by Debra Jo Rupp, Sharon Davis, aka Mrs. Hart, lost her life on the Witches' Road after drinking two glasses of poisoned wine. With no antidote in sight for Davis, she loses her life in front of her helpless allies. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator and multiple episode writer Jac Schaeffler reflected on the untimely death.

“It was so important from the beginning, when we realized we were going to do the witch route, that we were going to do this coven, the hilarious idea that we were going to bring a normal person along. Debra Joe Rupp is a comedic genius. She can't not be funny, but we're doing horror-comedy in the show,” Schaeffer says. “This series has bite and, in the last episodes, it takes a really dramatic turn. It was important to point this out, it was important to make it clear that we are not joking, that people die in this series“.

“We're theatrical, campy, broad, all the spectacle, all the fun, all the winks, all the meta, but underneath it all, there's a real grit to the story,” Schaeffer continues. “There's a real sense to it. I also think that's part of Agatha's personality; she can be very flamboyant, but she will cut you off. I felt dishonest not to really go for that.” With its third installment, Agatha All Along sets the tone. Faced with the watered-down stories that Marvel has offered in recent times, many viewers were concerned that the tone of Agatha All Alongis not mature enough, not dark enough. We are talking about witch stories after all. Perfect as Halloween approaches, Agatha All Along reassures. After a gory and bloody Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel and Disney seem ready to to speak to their older audience. And that's a good thing. MCU fans have aged 16 years since Iron Man in 2008, so it's fitting to adapt to that shift. Whether Agatha All Along will stay the course in the future remains to be seen. But this episode 3 is a great discovery, with a series that gains strength with each episode. While the MCU is losing momentum, Agatha All Along succeeds in its bet.
