After Fallout, Amazon Prime Video will adapt this legendary video game

Just a few months after the success of the series Fallout, Amazon Prime Video is working on the adaptation of another legendary video game.

Amazon Prime Video is taking on The Sims

After having long aroused the fears of the public and the press, adaptations of video games to cinema and television seem to be a major new windfall for Hollywood. It must be said that In recent years, we have been treated to a number of bold adaptations that have generated enthusiasm among audiences, including Super Mario Bros., the film, the series The Last of Us produced by HBO or the series Fallout, distributed on Amazon Prime Video. The latter, which adapts the cult license from Bethesda, has undoubtedly benefited from the writing talents of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, mainly known for the series Westworldand who left HBO after signing a lucrative deal with Jeff Bezos' firm.

Amazon Prime Video obviously intends to continue to exploit the video game vein. A few weeks after announcing at Gamescom an animated series centered on video games and developed by the creators of the series Love, Death & Robots, the American media Deadline informs us that the platform is working on a film project The Simsdirected by filmmaker Kate Herron, who directed the entire first season of Loki and is one of the people responsible for directing season 2 of The Last of Us.

Amazon Prime Video has just scored a huge coup. Indeed, we recall that the Electronic Arts license is among the most renowned in the video game industry.  The Simsis still one of the public's favorite games, and it is well-known enough to reach beyond the simple circle of gamers. Like strong licenses like The Legend of Zelda or Super Mario, it is not necessary to have a high level of knowledge in the field to know even the name The Sims. It remains to be seen whether the teams working on the feature film will manage to find the balance between the story that the film must necessarily tell and the fan service. Stay tuned!
