After Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, here is the next Tim Burton film

Released on Wednesday, September 11, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice marks Tim Burton's big return to the cinema. But what is the filmmaker's next film? We tell you everything!

What will be Tim Burton's next film?

While he was one of the most respected American directors in the world during the 1990s and 2000s,Tim Burton's career began to falter with Alice in Wonderland (2010). Despite its astonishing box-office success – the Disney film remains the filmmaker's greatest financial success – the feature film seemed a caricature of Burton's cinematic codes. Besides, apart from Frankenweenie(2012), during the decade 2010-2019 the Burbank director alternated between failures (Dark Shadows, Dumbo) and average films (Big Eyes, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children). The flop of Dumbo in 2019 will also push Tim Burton to think about retire…

Fortunately for his fans, Tim Burton did not go through with this project and returned to the forefront in 2022 with the series Wednesday on Netflix. On September 11, 2024, five years after the failure of Dumbo, he made his return to theaters with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a particularly successful sequel that respects the spirit of the first part he directed in 1988. While the film is not without its flaws – including too many narrative threads that end abruptly – Beetlejuice Beetlejuiceis proof that Tim Burton has retained his talent. Enough to raise the anticipation of discovering his next feature film… But what will be Burton's next film after Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?

As announced in the American press in February 2024, the director of Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow is currently working on a remake of the sci-fi film Attack of the 50-Foot Woman by Nathan Juran (1958). The film tells the story of a young woman who becomes a 50-foot giant after crossing paths with aliens; she then decides to take revenge on all those who have wronged her. Particularly kitsch, the film was a feminist manifesto, which undoubtedly appealed to Tim Burton, whose attachment to marginal figures is to the basis of his cinema.

< p>As a reminder,The writing of the project has been entrusted to American screenwriter Gillian Flynn, renowned for having written the novel and screenplay for David Fincher's Gone Girl (2016), Steve McQueen's Widows (2018) and the HBO series Sharp Objects (2018). Having won several awards for her work, she is one of the most exciting screenwriters in Hollywood. For the moment, we have no indication regarding the casting of the feature film produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, but we can imagine that Jenna Ortega, who seems to be the filmmaker's new muse since Wednesday, will play the lead role. These are of course just speculations.
