A teenager was detained in the Odessa region who set fire to two substations at the request of Internet curators

A 16-year-old boy from the Saf’yanivska community was detained in the Odessa region, who set fire to 2 transformer substations in the Izmail district for money.

This was reported by the Main Police Department of the Odessa region.

According to the investigation, in early December the young man came across an ad on the Internet for «easy money» and received an offer from an unknown person to set fire to transformer substations for a monetary reward.

«Having agreed, he found the objects, bought gasoline, and in the evening went to douse them and set them on fire. The attacker filmed the result of his actions and sent it to the customer for a report on the performed «work», after which he received a reward» on his bank card, – the message says.

Law enforcement officers seized from the defendant the clothes in which he committed the arson, a mobile phone with a report, and a bank card with money in the account.

The guy was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 194-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional damage to two energy facilities, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

Currently, the court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of night house arrest.
