A group of congressmen called on the Pentagon to allow Ukraine to attack targets in the Russian Federation

A bipartisan group of congressmen, members of the US House of Representatives Standing Committee on Intelligence, called on Defense Minister Lloyd Austin to allow Ukraine to strike targets on the territory of the Russian Federation with American weapons, and also strengthen the Ukrainian Air Force and Air Defense Forces.

This is reported on the official page of the committee, reports Ukrinform.

«After meeting with a delegation of Ukrainian parliamentarians, members of Congress emphasized that in order to improve Ukraine's ability to defend itself against aggression by the Russian Federation, the United States should allow Ukrainians to use weapons.. . to strike strategic targets in Russia,” the committee noted.

The letter addressed to the US Secretary of Defense refers to the efforts of the current US administration to limit Ukraine's capabilities in terms of strikes by American weapons on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

«It is very important that the Biden administration allows the military leadership of Ukraine to conduct the full range of operations necessary to respond to an unprovoked attack by Russia on their sovereign territory', the letter states.

In addition, the legislators emphasized the need to increase the number of Ukrainian pilots who are trained to work on F-16 aircraft, as well as to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
