Firefighters had their work cut out on Saturday morning to put out a major fire that ravaged an empty building in the Quartier des spectacles in Montreal.

The fire broke out in a three-story building on Saint-Dominique Street, said George Bele, spokesperson for the Montreal Fire Safety Service (SIM).

The first call was received around 4:20 a.m. By 8:15 a.m., the fire was almost completely contained, but it required more than 100 firefighters to respond to the scene after a 5th alarm, the highest, says M .Bele.

The building is detached on the south side, but attached on the north side to a three-story residential building. He was evacuated as a precaution. Fortunately, there were no injuries, assures George Bele.
