A fire broke out in Lviv due to a battery explosion

On December 14 at 8:27 p.m., the «101» Rescue Service received a report of a fire in Lviv on Knyazya Sviatoslava Square. The fire occurred in the basement of a three-story residential building.

This was reported by the Lviv Region State Emergency Service.

At the time of the firefighters' arrival at the scene, thick black smoke was coming out of the basement.

Due to the heavy smoke, the firefighters had to work in special respiratory and vision protection devices. At 20:43, firefighters localized and at 20:44 extinguished a fire of household items in the basement on an area of ​​2 sq.m. It is noted that the probable cause of the fire was the explosion of a lithium battery with subsequent combustion. 8 rescuers and 2 units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
