five contenders for the prestigious award.

Among Maguchih's rivals:

  • Olympic discus champion Valerie Allman;
  • Olympic and world indoor long jump champion American Tara Davis-Woodhall;
  • Olympic champion and Diamond League winner, Australian pole vaulter Nina Kennedy;
  • Belgian Olympic heptathlon champion Nafissatu Thiam.

Among the men, contenders for the title of the best are Olympic and world indoor shot put champion American Ryan Krauser, Spanish triple jump Olympic champion Jordan Alejandro Diaz Fortune, Olympic champion and the pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis of Sweden, the Olympic hammer throw champion of Canada Ethan Katzberg and the Olympic and world indoor long jump champion of Greece Maltiadis Tentoglu.

Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslav Maguchih was among the top three contenders for the title of the best track and field athlete of 2024 in Europe. In addition to the Ukrainian, two runners – Femke Ball from the Netherlands and Kiley Hodgkinson from the UK – made it to the final three candidates for the award.
