GTA VI: Fans demand the return of this key element of San Andreas

GTA VIis coming. Still scheduled for fall 2025, Rockstar's future baby is as much about salivating as it is about speculating. A single trailer to its credit, which has already accumulated more than 212 million views on YouTube, but a slew of more or less serious leaks. To keep us waiting, fans are sharing their desires as well as their fears. Some are hoping for a return of this feature cult of San Andreas, but it's a bad idea.

a return of this feature of San Andreas?

Rightly considered one of the best video game licenses in history, Grand Theft Auto is still as exciting as ever, more than two decades after its debut in 1997. Each opus has become legendary, pushing the possibilities of the sector a little further. With each new GTA, a monumental slap in the face. Rockstar is expected at the turning point, a pressure that seems to push the studio upwards, as evidenced by its productions. The latest? Red Dead Redemption II.

Even if the gameplay won't appeal to everyone, it's hard not to fall under the spell of the attention to detail and the vastness of Rockstar's open worlds. And with GTA VI, fans of the license hope to be satisfied. The possibilities are enormous, especially since the game has benefited from a huge development time and budget. The excellent results of GTA V, but especially GTA Online, have allowed Rockstar to focus on the development of its next title, without having to worry about money.

GTA V and its online component have brought in billions of dollars to the studio and its parent company, enough to see the future with parsimony. Such resources, few studios can take advantage of them. And with Rockstar, players expect that this development time will be behind a real revolution. While we will have to wait to find out for sure, especially since GTA VI can still be pushed back, fans are taking to social networks to share their expectations.

Please bring back gang territory warfare like in GTA:SA

On Reddit, one of the most popular posts in recent days was none other than a message to Rockstar, demanding the return of gangs, and more specifically, the turf wars between gangs from GTA: San Andreas. A cult and extremely popular feature, which some fans seem eager to see return in GTA VI. However, as Comicbook correctly details, this is not a good idea.

To begin with, the context does not necessarily lend itself to it. Lucia and Jason, although criminals, do not seem to be affiliated with a gang. It will therefore not be a central element of GTA VI, as it was for CJ in San Andreas.Rockstar should therefore add this dimension during the game, a perspective of evolution that smells more like reheated content than real novelty. Secondly, the situation does not lend itself to it. The Los Angeles of the 90s of San Andreas was the perfect playground for gang conflicts, today's Miami lends itself much less to it.

Gangs are much less present in Miami than in the city of angels, so it is difficult to see regular gang wars incorporated there without it harming the immersion. Third point, the era.Gangs were much more present in the culture and landscape of major American cities, especially on the West Coast, in the 90s than they are today. Basing a story around gang wars will therefore make little sense, especially since GTA presents itself above all as a caricature of our times.

Despite All in all, GTA VI could have gangs and several related missions. However, it is difficult to see the return of turf wars as players were able to discover them with GTA: San Andreas. There are likely to be many disappointed players, but it goes without saying that GTA VI will captivate us in another way, undoubtedly more original than the reintroduction of a feature already cult from a previous opus.
