A new feature is coming soon when watching videos on YouTube. In particular, advertising will be displayed directly on the player screen when the user pauses the video.
This solution proved to be very popular among advertisers during testing. This was reported by The Verge.
After successfully testing the feature with selected partners, the company began showing these ads to all advertisers in 2023. However, users on Reddit expressed complaints about ads that appear during the pause not only on the site, but also in the YouTube mobile application.

Similar solutions are already used by services such as Hulu and DirecTV for users with basic subscriptions.
