Google mocks Apple in new Pixel smartphone Christmas ad

In keeping with its old and unkind tradition, Google continues to passive-aggressively mock the iPhone, but this time something went wrong.

What you should know

According to the plot of the Christmas ad, two smartphones are stuck in boxes and are looking for a way out. To do this, the Pixel 9 turns to Gemini for advice. The neural network tells us that, most likely, the smartphones were gifts and there is no need to be afraid. The iPhone immediately falls into hysterics, declaring that it is not ready to show itself, unlike its Google colleague: they say that the latter has both Gemini and Circle to Search. And the Pixel pushes a heartfelt speech, as if calming the iPhone. The end.

In addition to the fact that the advertisement puts one of the smartphones of the schmucks against the background of another, some nonsense also came out with the advantages of the Pixel. The Circle for Search is available not only on Pixels, but also on other Androids. Gemini can run on iOS. And AI features aren't currently driving sales as much as marketers would like. There was a recent study in which only one in six iPhone users would consider switching to another smartphone because of advanced AI features. So-so argument. It's surprising that marketers chose this to show the Pixel's advantage.
